I agree w/Lobster...Bobby's stance re: pulling the SBD's is like a cop stopping you for a ticket b/c you went 5 mph over the posted speed limit. Were you speeding? Technically, yes. Does the cop have every right to pull you over? Of course. Should you pay the fine? Grudgingly, yes.

BUT we all know the cop could have been a cool cop just the same and given you a warning instead of the 75$ ticket. Bobby is being that un-cool cop. He knows just as well as everyone else that the cat is already out of the bag. If you try hard enough, you can get SBD's to the shows. It's just a fact. The LMA made it super-easy, that's all. But every true 'head I know was willing to pay whatever they charged for official releases and none had any problem w/those releases being pulled from the LMA.

Weir made the music. It's his. If he doesn't want free access to SBD recordings that's totally up to him and no one has any right to state otherwise. BUT he could have been the cool cop and said "y'know, it's out there anyway. Go ahead and enjoy it like we used to say you should when we allowed tapers in to begin with."

also, as I've stated before on this topic, I guarantee that the availability of the boards would actualy INCREASE interest in sales of official merchandise b/c it brings the material to the "front shelf" of the consumer's consciousness. To bury them and make everyone play hide and seek just drives the product--and its relevance--out of sight and makes it less of a spending priority.

Yes...but i'm still scared it'll get "pulled over" like LMA did.
